The Brilliance of the Moon and the Symphony of Life
Ceet's Fable of Chicken

Ceet Fouad, (born in Toulouse, France) has been doing graffiti art on the streets of France since the late 1980s. In 2003, he moved to China to pursue his ideals and took a Chinese name Xi Fude. He uses the image of big-eyed chicks as the spokesperson for his ideas and innovation. Since 1997, Ceet Fouad has been invited to hold solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, New York, London and has been collaborating with Prada, Adidas and other renowned brand names; he has been adored by the art and fashion circle. This time, we proudly present his sculpture Look Up, Look Down and his painting Messy Mess for the viewers to feel his charm.

In Look Up, Look Down, the white chick uses his slender legs to support the deliberately enlarged body, his large eyes looking into the sky, full of expectations for the future. The yellow chick lowers his head, as if he was looking back on the way home, lingering and wandering. This piece draws heavily from Li Bai's poem Thoughts on a Quiet Night, the image of a person who looks up into the sky and thinks about his hometown when lowering his head. The chicks embody these images in Li Bai's poem, which is the artist's humorous way to interpret the story of hometown and nostalgia in traditional Chinese culture.

The Force of life, Transient moment of Heat
In Messy Mess, Ceet Fouad paints a modern Chicken Festival on a yellow background that symbolizes light and heat. What is different is that some chicks are bright-colored and have distinctive expressions, while others are black and white. The coloring reveals a flashback of time, as if it is shown in the memory of the past. Ceet Fouad has made breakthrough in his painting techniques: He revitalizes the trickle technique in street graffiti painting in his recent graphic works. The splendid dripping colors present a flowing texture, symbolizing the forces of life and the passing of time, a mind-blowing piece of work.
